Tom Cruise Producing Career

Although Tom Cruise, was very early in his career known as the superstar of the Hollywood film industry, he still had the craving for something more, bigger, and better.

He went on fulfilling his another wish of producing his own films. For this purpose he collaborated with the already producer Paula Wagner to form a production company with the name Cruise/Wagner Productions.

His very first home production was released in the year 1996, which was also one of the highest grosser of the year, Mission: Impossible. He was widely appreciated for his first production and he was lucky enough to earn the Nova Award for the Most Promising Producer, which he of course shared with Paula Wagner in the year 1997.

He continued his work as a producer and the next movie he produced was in the year 1998, the title of the movie was "Without Limits", which was based on a well-known American figure Steve Prefontaine. He then took a break in his producing career but then returned whole-heartedly in the year 2000.

He returned to work for the sequel of Mission: Impossible in the year 2000 as a producer. In the same year he was also the executive producer of the movie starring the gorgeous actress Nicole Kidman titled "The Others". His third production in a row also included Vanilla Sky. He then continued the production work extensively, with the release of three more movies, Narc, Shattered Glass, and Hitting Hard in the same year.

He then produced and also acted in The Last Samurai, this movie also brought him considerable fame and success. He was nominated for the Motion Picture Producer of the Year Award at the 2004 PGA Golden Laurel Awards. He continued working as a producer in Ask The Dust, Elizabethtown and Suspect Zero.

With the myriad successes Tom accomplished in his producing career, more and more celebrities started admiring his work and the very famous Hollywood economist Epstein said about Tom

"one of the most powerful - and richest - forces in Hollywood".

He then went on arguing that he was amongst the very few film makers in the Hollywood industry who can guarantee a success of a billion dollar of their new movie.

There were actually some complications also in Tom's production career. It all started when in the month of august in 2006 Paramount Pictures decided to quit the fourteen year long relationship with the Cruise/Wagner productions. This was expected to have significant effects on Tom's production as well as his acting career.

This issue became quite a controversy when Cruise/Wagner revealed that they had already been conducting collaboration plans with other private companies and Paramount's decision was just a name saving step.

Most of the Hollywood economists like Edward Jay Epstein were in favour of Cruise/Wagner productions and thus Tom Cruise himself.

The management of the United Artist was announced at the end of the year 2006, revealing that Tom and Paula will be in charge of the United Artists film studio. Cruise will produce and star in films for United Artists, while Wagner will serve as UA's chief executive.
