The gay rumors over Tom started off ever since he became considerably famous in the Hollywood Film Industry. At that point of time, it was not on a serious note during that time and was basically because of his extra-cute boyish looks.
The rumor then picked up pace and was on its peak immediately after the South Park Episode, which was in the television show South Park in the year 2005.
It then lead to serious problems in Tom's life and he had to take serious actions to combat these challenges. During the time of his marriage to Nicole Kidman, the word was on the rounds that Tom was gay and their sex life was the most talked about topic about the couple. He sued a British tabloid in the year 1998 that had put an allegation on Tom of covering up his truth of homosexuality by the act of marriage.
David Ehrenstein was a famous writer who released a book on the life of Tom with the topic of "Open Secret: Gay Hollywood" which brought about huge controversies and then Tom cruise's lawyer threatened to sue the author for his unjustified content of the book. The book also revealed detailed information about Tom's profile which explained his appeal to both sexes.
In the year 2001, Tom Cruise again had to take legal actions against a gay porn actor Chad Slater who revealed it to the celebrity's magazine that he was in a link up affair with the Tom. After winning the case, Chad Slater was ordered to pay $10 million to the Tom Cruise for the damage to his reputation.
Michael Davis was a magazine publisher who started off a heated debate on his claim that he can provide with proof of Tom being homosexual through photographs, the publisher was also sued by Tom, and he never went on providing the photographs he had written about in the magazine being the proof of Tom's sexuality.
Tom's lawyers also sued a Buffalo Beast Newspaper, which include Tom in the top 50 most loathsome people of the year 2004, there was no lawsuit confirmed and he was again included in the list of 2005.
The domain Tomcruise.com was taken over by the cyber squatter Jeff Burgar, who was sued for his actions by Tom. It also redirected information about Tom Cruise on Celebrity100.com. The WIP then gave their decision of handing over the domain to Tom in the year 2006, in the month of July.
